Sowter Parasol Bridge & Pagoda Dinner Plate c.1810

 

 

A finely potted pearlware dinner plate in the Parasol, Bridge and Pagoda pattern. The pattern is attributed to Sowter and Co. Mexborough, South Yorkshire on the basis of a marked example. The plate itself is unmarked. There are no stilt marks on the face or reverse indicating the in the glaze firing the plate stood on its rim.

The plate is 9.6 inches (24.3cm) in diameter.


The plate is in very good condition. There is a small almost unglazed area near the rim on the face.
