Riley Eastern Street Scene Dinner Plate c.1820

A blue transfer printed dinner plate printed with the Eastern Street Scene by Riley. The plate is potted in a pearlware type body and is unmarked. After c.1825 this pattern was made with a Semi-China body with a printed mark.

The plate is 9.7 inches (24.7cm) in diameter and weighs 380g.

The plate is in very good condition. There is no damage or restoration. There are a few minor utensil marks to the face. There is a dark spot in the glaze on the edge of the rim at 12 o'clock. The centre of the well has risen in the firing. The plate is clean and bright and rings and displays beautifully. A lovely piece of early Staffordshire blue and white transferware.
